  • Mission of the School

Through high-quality, multidisciplinary teaching adapted to African realities, open to the world and based on the concepts of peace and security, the Alioune Blondin Bèye Peacekeeping School helps strengthen the capacity of African States in peace support, and first and foremost of the African Union's African Standby Force. This teaching is aimed at the three components of the African Standby Force: military, police and civilian.
Its responsibilities are therefore:

  • To impart or maintain core knowledge and skills related to peacekeeping operations;
  • To help strengthen the culture of peace by providing high-quality, multidisciplinary teaching adapted to African realities, open to the world and based on the concepts of peace and security;
  • To foster personal ties and networks among pan-African trainees.

To achieve these goals, the EMPABB offers a range of training covering all areas specific to peace support operations (PSO). These take the form of courses lasting one to four weeks. The school can host two courses at the same time, each bringing together twenty-five men and women, civilian and uniformed. The EMPABB has also set up mobile training teams that can travel across the continent to deliver tailored training to the nations or organisations that request it.
As a general rule, training is ENTIRELY FREE OF CHARGE for the trainees invited by the school.
